pThe United States Government has laws on the books allowing government agencies and police departments to seize vehicles that are used in the transportation or sale of illegal narcotics, or bought with money gained from their sale. These are known as drug dealers cars, or drug seized cars. When a prosecution happens, and the judge orders the forfeiture of a vehicle, it becomes the property of which ever agency or department seized it. These vehicles can be used by the agency or department that seized it as a undercover vehicle, unmarked car, or police car. If they have no use for it, it goes to a government auction.ppSeveral times a year in each state, the various departments and agencies dispose of their surplus cars by way of a public auction where you can bid on and buy them. Some cars seized because of drugs found in car are only a couple of months old, have very few miles, and are in great condition. You are allowed to inspect the vehicles prior to the auction, to see if there is any problems that may affect safety or reliability. If you are not knowledgeable about cars, you should bring someone who is, to check out the car for you.ppWhen the bidding starts, it starts very low, and the high bidder takes it home. Most cars sell for several thousand less than they are worth, but sometimes great cars sell for next to nothing. Five hundred dollar cars are not the general rule, but it does sometimes happen if there is nobody else bidding on the car.p br br
