WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY Frequently Asked Questions Mike, Hi and thanks in advance for your helpful advice. I am searching for a power pole for my husband for Father's Day. I know nothing! I do know that we fish in the Gulf on the flats and his boat is 17ft Capehorn. Will the Dig In work for us and if so, which model and how do I know if he'd need stern or bow mount? Thanks SOOOO much! Renee D. - Starke, Fl Mike, I came across your site while searching for power poles. I really would prefer your system over the power poles setup. I am a crappie fishermen fishing in the Crappie Masters and Crappie USA fishing circuit. I was wondering if you have some kind of affiliate program for semi pro fishermen. I think your product would be huge in our type of fishing setups. I would be more than happy to pass out literature at seminars and display your sticker on my boat. What ever you prefer. I think your bow mount setup would really be a hit with crappie fisherman. David P. - Houston, TX Mike, I just got a 2011 Tidewater 180CC. Center Console 18ft I have a trolling motor and a 90 hp I fishing in the water way at nc beaches with the different tide 7-8 ft and currents and the waves, what is the right system for my needs. I was going to get the talon and found your web site. I saw you had dealers in SC how about NC I am wanting the best system. Thanks. Charles D. - Fayetteville, NC I'm interested in Bass Boat and Multi-species Boat applications / installations. As the former President of the RI BASS Federation Nation and current officer of my Bass Club, I would imagine several people in my area (Rhode Island / Massachusetts) should be interested in an economical alternative to the costly Power Pole. I'm interested in various self-installation alternatives you may shed light on. I can see one huge advantage to your product in a headwind with the bow mounted system. Roy - Boston, MA I own a g3 1860 ccj dlx and have been looking at your product for a couple weeks. I am sold, but am curious as the best mounting options. I like the idea of mounting to stock trolling mount, but wonder how easily that would go doing it myself. Any thoughts or other options? Also I?d like the Fish Hunter package, any recommendations on the stern? I mainly fish on the Potomac and tributaries, just FYI. Ronnie B. - Martinsburg, WV Thanks very much. I really think this will be a perfect product for placing my boat perfectly in the the brush to catch crappie. I was seriously looking at the talon but it only reaches down 8' so there are a lot of situations for me that it would have been no use and it would be hard to buy two of them and you cannot mount one on the bow. So when I seen the dig in, I knew that's what I was going to buy. If you ever come out with 15' poles let me know cause I would buy some. Thanks a bunch for making a great product !!!! I will pass the the word around in Ohio here because there is a lot of business to be gotten up here in the north. Your anchors aren't just for them southern boys. Wish you had some dealers up here !!! God bless. Erik B. - Morral, OH | We Tweet Fishing Reports |

If you have fishing on your mind, then you might want to consider a flats fishing trip. Many people like fishing in flats instead of deeper waters for many reasons. You might not be able to swim or you might have kids you are afraid to take into deep waters. For whatever reason you have for not going out into deep waters to fish, you should know that the flats around most lakes and inlets are loaded with great fishing.
A lot of people have never heard of flats fishing and might be wondering what it is all about. You might think you would have to some sort of special fishing supplies. However, this fishing is a lot like any other kind. The only difference is the depth of the water.
Skiffs are smaller boats that are perfect for fishing in the flats. If you have ridden in a bass boat, then it is the same kind of boat. These boats are great for bringing along the supplies you will need for your fishing trip. Make sure to have a couple of coolers on board for storing the fish that you catch.
In addition to coolers, you should take about the same kinds of things you would for any other fishing trip. Take your rod and reel, tackle box, and what you would need that day for drinks and snacks. You can check with bait and tackle shops for the appropriate bait for the kind of fish you will be fishing for.
Be sure you take a pair of rubber boots that will allow you to get into shallow water. Fishing in the flats does not always mean that you have to remain in the skiff. Wear clothing for the season and always take bug repellent. The areas that are shallow in water are also great places for mosquitoes.
Once you are out there looking for the exact place you want to throw your hook in, you need to know what to look for. Water that is less than about eight feet in depth is what you will be looking for. You will also want an area of water that has stumps or other kinds of things for fish to hide under.
You can search online for places to go flats fishing at. One of those places is Florida. Many people travel to Florida just to visit the flats there for fishing. You can also find many other places as well on the internet.

Fishing the Flats with Henry Waszczuk
When it comes to fishing the flats of Florida or Belize, Costa Rica or Mexico, you can't do better for a guide than Mr. Henry Waszczuk. If you check out his TV show, Fishing the Flats, you're guaranteed week after week of exciting trips to far-flung locales all in the pursuit of nature's most challenging sport fish.
Waszczuk is an unlikely provider of fishing the flats TV. Born in England in 1950, he crossed the pond with his family as a toddler. Football was his first
love, playing for Kent State, and later professionally, before setting down to teach high school Science for a decade or so. It was around this time he began fishing the flats in Florida and elsewhere.
Before you knew it, Waszczuk had his own fishing magazine, and he turned years of angling experience into dynamic fishing the flats TV. Any given week, the viewer can watch Waszczuk and crew take on a new adventure. One episode might deal with fishing the flat (and ultra-skinny) waters of Charlotte Harbor,
Florida, seeking the mighty redfish in its winter habitat.
Then there's the thrill known only to the angler who dares to fish the flats of the Florida Keys for tarpon, a creature known to tip the scales at one hundred pounds. Speaking of fishing the flats in Florida, feisty reds can also be found in the mangroves of Clearwater, an experience unequaled for those seeking
pristine outdoors scenes.
Florida is not the only east coast site to provide angling pleasure. Fishing the flats of North Carolina, in Pamlico Sound, is known to yield giant reds for the
sportsman willing to be guided by Waszczuk.
What about further afield? Fishing the flats TV seeks bonefish in the Bahamas, an outsize specimen called roosterfish in the exotic environs of Costa Rica,
and shark, of all things, in Long Island, Bahamas. Fishing the flat marshy waters of Louisiana is an unforgettable experience, poling a skiff along back waters
dimmed and darkened by Spanish moss draped trees.
Exotic locals alone do not make for riveting Fishing the flats TV. Your host, Henry Waszczuk, also provides knowledgeable guidance on gear. What kind
of skiff is required to fish the flats of St. Augustine for flounder, for example? What kind of rod is best, what kind of line, what kind of lure?
Any question you may have about fly fishing the flats is sure to be answered in the course of watching this show, or perusing Waszczuk's magazine called
"Fins and Skins."

The Best of Shallow Water Fishing in Florida
While a majority of Americans are honed in on multi-tasked lives, a small but significant few are planning their next means of escape. Their flight plan includes some of the best shallow water fishing spots available in Florida.
Fishing promotes endless possibilities. Such as kinships among fisherman that spark one single goal: to catch fish. Yet, few can be seen unless you are truly searching.
Florida is the top coastal fishing state harboring many varieties of shallow water fish due to its average water temp. of 70 degrees. An abundance of shallow water fish can be found amongst tidal creeks, mangroves, and grass beds, hence the name Mangrove Snapper. The Indian River Lagoon and Halifax River host scores of pumps, bass, flounder, and sheepshead. Snook, redfish, pompano and trout inhabit our Intracoastal waterways and bridges. It is a fisherman’s paradise with rivers sheltering rich oyster beds, abounding mud, shell bottoms, grass beds, bridges, and countless docks luring numerous fresh water friends.
Seeking the right gear for shallow water fishing can be time consuming. Your best bet is to latch on to an experienced fisherman at the bait shop. Here you’ll find how Lipless vibrating crankbaits are favorites among many bass pros for combing large stretches of shallow water. He may even share that Spinnerbaits work best on windy days because the wave action scatters the lure's flash and gives the appearance of a more realistic fish.
For those days when nothing seems to be biting, a Jig-and-pig is a good choice for probing dense shallow waters when it is murky or muddy. In fresh water springs, floating lures entice fish best. When fishing in shallow cover try buzzbaits, prop baits and poppers if it is early or late in the day. Yet, Grubs have to be one of the best lures you can use for smallmouths.
Shallow water flat boats are a must for transportation. A flat bottomed hull is able to run smoothly and efficiently. It houses a trolling motor and will float in the shallowest of all rivers and waterways. It might not offer the performance of a v-hulled craft, and the ride might be wetter, but there’s an abundance of storage space for fishing equipment.
The shallow water anchor drives an upper arm to a raised position, and engages a push pole to keep the bottom out of shallow water. Using shallow water anchoring, provides a minimum amount of damage to sea life, including oysters, and grasses or other vegetation growing on the bottom of the water.
Shallow water fishing is an easy, affordable means to reconnect. When is your next escape to Florida’s coast?
