Sciton Introduces SkinTyte for a firmer looking skin

Sciton announced the immediate availability of the SkinTyte ST Accessory for skin tightening. Forecast to grow at a rate of 50% for the next two year, skin tightening is predicted to be one of the fastest growing aesthetic market segments. The new SkinTyte ST Accessory is used for selective photocoagulation of soft tissue in conjunction with an integrated thermo-electric cooler to cool the epidermis prior-to, during, and after treatment, reducing discomfort and minimizing thermal injury to non-target skin and skin structures. This technique selectively targets and treats dermal collagen. The result is partial coagulation and contraction of collagen. With SkinTyte, practitioners can quickly add this procedure to their practice by simply attaching the accessory to their BBL. The ease with which the BBL can switch quickly from this to other modalities greatly facilitates the ability for practitioners to offer combination procedures to their patients for advanced outcomes and increased patient satisfaction.

Sciton Showcases New Products and its new ProFractional technology in San Francisco

to offer combination procedures to their patients for advanced outcomes and increased patient satisfaction. Dr. Jason Pozner, a plastic surgeon located in Boca Raton, FL has experience with the BBL and ST accessory. "Currently I like to use the BBL SkinTyte device for large surface area treatments, such as legs, arms and abdomens. My experience is that patients find it more comfortable than other skin tightening treatments, and patients are very happy with the results they are seeing". The large spot size of the BBL, 15 X 45mm, enables quick treatment of large surface areas. The BBL SkinTyte has the industry's largest treatment area for this treatment and is an ideal device for enabling practitioners to further increase the procedural profitability of their practice. For smaller surface areas, and hard to reach areas, the BBL has small spot, magnetically attached adapters so that BBL stays true to form in not requiring an expensive handpiece purchase further elevating the value of the BBL above other intense pulsed light systems available today. Sciton also announced significant advancements in the development of its ProFractional technology. Described as the delivery of small spots scanned over the skin's surface, early clinical data suggests that ProFractional will have significant advantages over any other currently available fractionated device. ProFractional is designed to have proprietary control features not currently available in any device. Dr. Pozner is involved in early clinical studies of the ProFractional device. "I'm extremely excited about the early results I'm seeing with the ProFractional", stated Dr. Pozner. "Its still very early in the development, but already the ProFractional looks like it may become a significant part of my practice", Dr Pozner added. Sciton Showcases its Pro-V system for the laser treatment of varicose veins

Sciton Inc., announced today that it will showcase the Sciton Pro-V(TM) 1319nm Nd:Yag laser for endovenous ablation of the great saphenous vein for the treatment of varicose veins at the International Vein Congress (IVC) held in Miami Florida April 20-22. Varicose veins are a common condition in the United States , affecting up to 60% of all Americans. Women, especially older women, are more likely than men to have this problem. Current treatment options include sclerotherapy, which involves injecting a solution into the vein, surgical removal of the varicose vein, or endovenous treatment with laser or electrical energy. Endovenous laser treatments are expected to triple in number over the next four years to reach over 300,000 by 2010. In a recently completed study, Ronald G. Bush , M.D. , FACS, of Dayton , Ohio , used the Sciton Pro-V endovenous system to treat the great saphenous vein of 30 patients. Each was successfully treated with no flow at day two as demonstrated through ultrasound. "The Pro-V is a very safe and effective system for treating saphenous insufficiency and compares favorably to other systems being used, and has the ability to treat the vein at lower treatment levels" stated Dr. Bush. One of the unique benefits the Sciton Pro-V offers to physicians, is the ability to upgrade the system to a complete vein treatment center including a BBL(TM), broadband light source for vascular conditions such as telangiectasia and rosacea and, available in 2007, a ClearScan(TM) 1064nm Nd:Yag for the transcutaneous treatment of spider veins. With the introduction of the Sciton Pro-V, physicians are now able to address the complete vascular needs of their patients with one system. "Being able to add the BBL pulsed light to the Pro-V gives Sciton a clear advantage over other systems," stated Dr. Bush. "The addition of the Pro-V to the Sciton product line expands the aesthetic applications of our broad and well-respected product line," stated Dale Koop , General Manager at Sciton. "We are committed to offering the most precise, innovative, and versatile lasers available. We are excited to show vascular surgeons and other vascular specialties, the value of the new Sciton Pro-V laser." Sciton, located in Palo Alto , California is committed to providing best-in-class laser and light source solutions for medical professionals who want superior durability, performance and value for applications that benefit their patients, their practice, and themselves.
